About Me

My name is Elizabeth and I have just begun a Master of Teaching (Primary) at the Australian Catholic University (ACU). Being my first year at this university, I must say I love it as well as this course! In 2007 at the age of 17, I began my first degree which was a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Western Sydney (UWS). I majored in psychology as this was going to be my original career path. Upon the completion of that degree I commenced with my second degree in 2010 at UWS which was a Postgraduate Diploma of Psychology. Although the field of psychology very much interested me, I decided it wasn't the right path for me. During my postgraduate degree I had worked as a therapist for two 5year old twin autistic boys which was an amazing and inspiring experience I'll never forget. I learnt so much about the minds of these beautiful children and it helped me to understand all children (whether they have a disability or not) in a much better way. This is essentially what prompted me to become a primary school teacher. I want to make a positive difference to childrens lives and be able to help each of my students no matter what their abilities are. So here I am at the age of 21 beginning my third degree in primary teaching!

As this is my first teaching degree, I am also going through my first experience of practical teaching. I am with a wonderful class of Kindergarten children and I have no doubt that they will be teaching me! I am learning a great deal from them, including how they learn as well as how to manage them as a class. The best thing about this learning experience is that these newly acquired skills will not only apply to my teaching, but to many other aspects of my life. This is something that many other jobs do not offer.

I hope you enjoy following my journey through my blog. It will most certainly be a memorable experience and I can't wait to share it with you!
